Adetoro Empowers SMES In Eti-Osa
The Eti-Osa Council Chairman, Omoba Adeola Adetoro has organised an empowerment program for small and medium sized enterprises in a bid to boost their businesses in the council area.
The Chairman disclosed that the gesture was one of the campaign promises put in place to support SMEs in the local government, saying it has the potential of reducing poverty and expanding the local economy.
She emphasized the need for government at all levels to encourage young entrepreneurs, noting that white collar jobs were insufficient for the country.
She said the policy would promote industrialisation and help reduce unemployment, more than 300 business owners in the council area benefited from the scheme. Beneficiaries received either N50,000 or N100,000 to strengthen their businesses and position them for better economic growth.
She added that the program would be sustained, stressing that the welfare of residents was a priority for the current local government administration, which will do everything possible to reduce poverty.
Omoba Adetoro listed some of the projects she had carried out since assuming office, including regular clearing of drainage channels to reduce flooding and several road contracts awarded across all wards of the local government to make life more meaningful for all residents among others as dividends of democratic.
She promised that additional classrooms would be built in public schools and pledged to build on the achievements of her predecessors.
In a message of hope to residents, she said her administration would continue to develop programs that directly impact people and meet the electorate's expectations.
